We began our 125th anniversary year on Tuesday 26 October with a beautiful Mass in Westminster Cathedral at which our President, Cardinal Vincent Nichols, presided and preached. It could not have been a more appropriate setting as the cathedral was built by our founder, Cardinal Herbert Vaughan, and is also his place of burial. The occasion was slightly overshadowed by the absence of our Chairman, Roland Hayes, through illness, but it was hugely enjoyable all the same. We are indebted to those who helped to organise the evening’s proceedings and to those who came to support us. It has got us off to a good start in what we hope and pray will be an exciting and productive year for the Society. - PHOTOS BY PAUL CLARKE PHOTOGRAPHY
